This year’s theme shines a light on the growing recognition that mental health is just as important as physical health in the workplace. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression and anxiety cost the global economy an estimated US$ 1 trillion per year in lost productivity. At the same time, studies show that workplaces that prioritise mental health see higher engagement, improved retention, and stronger business performance.

Backing this up, a recent McKinsey & Company report highlights that investing in holistic employee health can generate up to US$ 11.7 trillion in global economic value. Organisations that prioritise employee health tend to benefit from improved productivity, reduced absenteeism, lower healthcare costs, and greater employee engagement.
