On behalf of the Netherlands British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) and Stibbe, I am pleased to invite you to the inaugural meeting of the NBCC Financial Services Committee.

With the EU-UK Leaders’ Summit coming up, there is a genuine moment to act and put Financial Services on the agenda ahead of the Reset Summit. With the Draghi Report and the Rapport Wennink highlighting that Europe must do more to increase its competitiveness and productivity we believe financial services should be positioned as one of its key enablers for long-term economic growth. Ten years from the Brexit referendum, against a backdrop of dismal economy we should investigate on how to remove frictions and improve ties for a sector that can jumpstart growth.

Therefore, the Committee is being established as a platform for dialogue between financial institutions, policymakers, legal experts and other stakeholders on the future of UK-EU financial services cooperation. The discussion will focus on areas where closer collaboration can support competitiveness, investment and growth, while exploring practical opportunities to strengthen financial services ties between the UK, the Netherlands and the EU.

The first meeting will bring together a curated group of senior representatives from across the financial services ecosystem for an exchange on current developments and future priorities for the sector to identify the opportunities for strengthening ties.
