About Tim de Wit
Until last summer, Tim de Wit (1981) worked as a correspondent in London for the NOS and for the daily newspaper Trouw. During his seven years in Britain, he was completely absorbed in the Brexit process, about which he wrote his book 'Shaky Kingdom'. In that book he describes how he saw the country change in those chaotic years, when British politics was at odds with itself. Unfortunately, not for the better on many fronts.
Whether it's the corrupt tendencies of the Conservative Party under Boris Johnson, the hesitant way in which the oligarchs in 'Londongrad' have been dealt with after the Russian invasion of Ukraine or the unhealthy relationship between the incumbent and the media, it is making the country shaky. Especially if you consider that things are now rumbling in Northern Ireland again and that the call for independence in Scotland is not going away.
During this evening at the Dutch Center, Tim will shine his light on this fascinating and sometimes incomprehensible country, which was his home for seven years and will never let him go.
Since his return to the Netherlands, Tim has been presenter of the NPO Radio 1 program 'Bureau Buitenland'. In addition, he makes the successful podcast 'Europa Draait Door' together with former politician Arend Jan Boekestijn.
