Dutch supplier of big jeans finds a good fit in the British market

Compared to any other European country, Britain’s men are the heaviest, both in number and size. Currently more than 1% of British men are seriously overweight (mass body index over 30). This was the reason why Dutch jeans developer and supplier JeansXL recently decided to visit Britain.

The supplier of large sized jeans for overweight men is successfully expanding its sales in Europe and recently asked The Netherlands British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) to research the British market for large size jeans and organise an appointment programme with retailers. The results were promising. During their first trade visit to the UK in March they found a receptive market, and received written orders for their products from various British retailers.

"We are going into a market which currently is growing in size and where jeans suppliers offer little diversity. Large sized men don’t have a lot of choice when it comes to quality and fashion of denim. And that’s where we are making a difference; we offer our target group fashionable jeans with engineered comfort adjustments which is greatly appreciated” according to David van Dam, Managing Director of JeansXL.

Following the promising results of the first visit, JeansXL has decided to further expand its activities in the UK, starting with a second trade visit, which the NBCC is organising for next month.
