The Event

The Netherlands is one of Europe’s most advanced countries concerning waste management solutions. Municipal recycling rates average 60% and levels as high as 80% are currently being reached by various local authorities. These levels of recycling are being achieved through implementations of effective strategies in waste prevention, collection and treatment.

On 27 and 28 June 2006 the NBCC will organise its second annual visit on effective waste management solutions to The Netherlands. The visit offers participants valuable networking opportunities and fact-finding on efficient solutions with regards to waste prevention, collection, recycling and processing.

Included in the event are visits to advanced treatment centres, best practices case studies with local authorities and networking with representatives of the Dutch waste management sector. Representatives of local authorities and waste management companies in the UK are invited to join in this unique event.

“I found the case studies from the authorities on the first day extremely useful, and the visits the second day were a real eye opener, future visits I feel would be a benefit to the UK waste industry, especially from a local authority point of view looking at best practice within other local authorities/ waste businesses in the Netherlands”.
