Trade Advisor, UK Trade and Investment - The Netherlands
- conduct extensive market research to identify and promote business opportunities in the Netherlands for UK companies, including the identification of procurement needs of Dutch companies in sectors of responsibility;
- support the delivery of high quality services (including event management) to UKTI’s clients;
- provide timely and accurate advice to UKTI customers;
- provide high quality market reports to UK companies;
- help organise and attend seminars, inward and outward (trade) missions and sector promotion events in Netherlands and UK.

In this role you will:
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the United Kingdom government’s international trade promotion and business development agency. The UKTI office in the Netherlands forms part of the UKTI Benelux network and works closely with our UK-based offices, regional representative offices and other British Government departments. UKTI Netherlands is responsible for trade development between the UK and the Netherlands and for assisting Dutch companies looking to invest in the UK (see
www.uktradeinvest.gov.uk).
Duties and Responsibilities
As part of a small team, you will assist UK companies operating in a wide range of sectors including Advanced Engineering, Construction, (Renewable) Energy, ICT, Security, Creative and Media and Financial services sectors supporting particularly their export and marketing strategies for the Netherlands and/or wider Benelux.
Requirements
- experience in a marketing, business development or trade/investment promotion discipline or a Bachelor’s degree in a business related field;
- good knowledge of one or more of the advanced engineering, life sciences, ICT, Security, Creative and Media and Financial services sectors;
- a good understanding of the UK and Dutch market, including the business drivers in the sectors covered;
- strong account management experience, excellent customer relation building skills;
- strong networking skills and established networks in at least one of the relevant sectors is preferred;
- excellent command of written and spoken Dutch and English;
- ability to work to tight deadlines without losing sight of priorities;
- a self-starter, able to work independently and show initiative whilst operating as part of a wider UK / Dutch team;
- excellent IT skills, in particular Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel;
The contract will be for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of extension for further years dependent upon success. The starting salary will be €2,134 gross, based on a working week of 36 hours.
In addition, annual holiday pay of 8% and a monthly travel allowance are payable.
